TopMax is a software expandable universal device programming workstation that supports a wide variety of programmable devices in addition to the capability of testing digital ICs. The TopMax is the most sophisticated low-cost programmer available today. A unique hardware/software architecture enables TopMax to easily grow in support and engineering software design capabilities as quickly as your device library requirement. The state-of-art universal programmer offers you the most advanced programming facilities with the user-friendliest interface. Since each pin is software addressable, new part numbers are being added to the list of supported devices through software upgrades. No new hardware to buy! It will prove to be one of the most reliable and long lasting instruments. There is also an optional ROM emulator module that supports devices up to 4-Mbit.
TopMax features a 48-pin universal pin driver and an expandable TTL pin driver. This special technology allows you to control the programmer’s pin switches, so each pin can supply Vcc, Vpp, or GND. Pins can also be configured for TTL high/low levels with pull-high/pull-low, high-speed clock and tri-state. This advanced pin design lets you program any DIP devices up to 48 pins without an adapter. It also ensures the support full rang of today and future devices on the market.
TopMax allows you not only to program programmable ICs but also to test TTL and CMOS logic ICs. Furthermore, it tests Dynamic memory and Statistic memory whether your ICs are defective or not.
TopMax interfaces with the IBM PC,XT,PS/2,AT,386,486,Pentium, portable (laptop) or compatible personal computers. The standard package allows you to directly connect to your PC through any standard parallel printer port (no special interface card or special modules needed).
The great advantage of TopMax is its
superior software.
TopMax is controlled via a host personal computer.
The operating software has a user-friendly interface that includes window type
pull-down menus, macro facility for batch file execution, and virtual memory
management to deal with very large files.
The TopMax software can read output from most compilers in POF or JEDEC format
such as CUPL, PALASM, OPAL, and ABEL.
It includes test vector capability, multi-array fuse map editor, and DOS shell
handling utilities, file format handler.
In order to ensure continuous high performance, the control software is equipped
with a diagnostic routine performing self-test and diagnosis of drivers of all
48 pins.
One of the TopMax’s most flexible features for engineering tools is its
optional ROM emulator.
Our TM-ROM speeds up your firmware development by eliminating the need to
re-install EPROMs each time you test a firmware change.
This device plugs into the EPROM socket on your target board and emulates its
EPROM throughout the development process.
We provide software that loads the EPROM image into the emulator in a matter of
seconds!

The TopMax’s menu-driven software is easy to use. Menu selections are made using
cursor keys, a single character, or a hot key(F1..F12) to invoke commands and
submenus. Selecting the exact algorithm for the device you want to program is
easy.
As you type a device in the menu, the screen constantly changes to show you all
the known devices that match your selection.
For example, as you type 27256, the screen shows all 27256 devices and lets you
scroll through the list showing each manufacturer, part number, and suffix.
Pressing the ENTER key installs the chosen algorithms and you are ready to
program, read, verify, or blank check the part.
Pressing F4 will give you more details on the device including manufacturer, ID,
Vcc, Vpp, number of pins, and adapter order number if your part is not standard
the DIP type.
The CONFIG allows you to specify different programming options. Setting the configuration options properly, the operation of TopMax will assist your application needs.
The TopMax universal pin driver capability lets it program all 48-pin DIP
devices without DIP-to-DIP adapters, including all single-chip Microcontrollers.
The market, however, offers many choices besides DIP devices, such as PLCCs,
SOPs, TSOPs, QFPs, and SOICs. We have developed over 50 different converters to
support these non-DIP device packages.
The TopMax universal pin driver not only eliminates the need of programming
modules but also reduce the number of converters required, reducing your cost
for future expansion.
A single 44-pin PLCC adapter lets it program all 44 pin PLCC devices.
